The best time to visit Ladakh is in the summer season between the months of March to mid May. However, the peak season is between the months of June and August.
Normal travel outfits like T-shirts, shorts, trek pants, and the likes are okay during the daytime but in the evening it gets colder and jackets and pullovers will be needed. While trekking and camping one must make sure to carry warmer clothes. Even during June and July, rain or snowfall might occur so windcheaters, raincoats, and waterproof shoes are also highly recommended.
Ladakh is situated at a very high altitude and anybody traveling 10,000 meters above sea level is bound to find difficulty in breathing. Travelers may also suffer from to high altitude sickness which happens due to low level of atmospheric oxygen. Hence, with necessary safety measures that must be taken one can travel the region without much difficulty. Travelers should give enough time to their bodies to acclimatize to the weather and drink a lot of water to remain hydrated.
BSNL, AIRTEL, and AIRCEL networks are available and work in Leh and Ladakh. However, BSNL is the one that works best. Please note that prepaid sims DO NOT work at all in Ladakh.
